Why would a company just give away gadgets? That's just mad!
This is a completely new form of online marketing supported by companies like lovefilm, Coral, gala bingo, Norwich Union and many others. The way in which this works is that it follows a a very simple referral structure which encourages people to view a particular companies offer in exchange for one of todays latest gadgets. The most appealing part of this structure is that taking part in the offers doesn’t mean you have to buy anything, there are a wealth of completely free trials available.
When you are taking part in an offer from a comapny, you become a 'potential' customer. The company will then place a high value on people viewing their products and/or services. This company is hoping that from the free offer that you will want to stay with them and become a full customer. This system works because companies bank that an average of 1-5 in every 100 people will eventually become a full time customer after the enitial free offer. Remember you can quit after the free trial period meaning it costs you nothing, just a bit of time.
To avoid any confusion I am going to be completely honest. A lot of people see this system as a scam. I know i did for the past few years...until I spent time researching it! The reason people think this is a scam is because they do not put enough effort into it eg. They just sign up and expect people to just sign up for them. It does take work to get your free ipod, xbox 360, ps3 or whatever you choose. I can guarentee you will get your item. You just NEED to spend TIME getting the referrals. It may seem hard at first, but if you read my tips page you should get an idea on how you can make the process go faster. Everything in life take work, but come on! A free item for your time and a bit of effort...surely you wouldn't ignore that. I haven't.
I will try to break this down into a step by step process so you can see how you, the company and the reward site benefit from of this
- So, you sign up for the free trial with the company of your choice
- Everytime the reward site refers a new customer to the main company to try out a free offer they will get something that is known as a 'referral fee'.
- So, you're signed up to the reward site and you want, say, an xbox 360 which retails for around £170.
- In order to get the xbox 360 you will need to get 13 referrals to sign up with the reward site.
- Everytime you make a referral the company then pays the reward site a set amount (the referral fee).
- Here is the clever part. So, the Xbox 360 needs 13 referals. Say the referral fee is around £25. You get 13 people to sign up and the reward site will get 13 times the referral fee (13 x £25 = £325). So now the company can afford to give you a £170 xbox 360 and they will still make a profit to cover their costs.
- Once you have all 13 referrals you recieve your new xbox 360!
So, to sum it up
- The reward site is in pocket as they have made a profit from the main company signed up with them.
- The company signed up to the reward site is happy because they are getting exposure to new 'potential' customers.
- You're over the moon because with a little effort getting your referrals you have a gadget of your choice absolutely free!
So, as you can see all 3 parties concerned are happy. This is exactly why this referral structure works so well and why so many people have recieved so many free gadgets.
